DC Sniper Executed
November 10, 2009

DC sniper John Allen Muhammad was executed through lethal injection on Tuesday, November 10, 2009 at 9:11 p.m. in Virginia. The execution took place at a state prison near Jarratt, Virginia.

Seven years ago, Muhammad along with Lee Boyd Malvo, his teenage protégée, killed 10 people while wounding three. Malvo is currently serving time in a Virginia prison.

He refused to utter any last words as he was executed, taking to the grave his motives for why he plotted the random murders that terrorized the Washington, D.C., area for three weeks in October 2002.

The 48-year-old died as relatives of the victims watched from behind glass, separated from the rest of the 27 witnesses at Greensville Correctional Center, south of Richmond.
